All you need is a love of the mountain and being on two skis or one board! Apex Alpine Race Team supports 5 High Schools and our mission is to create a fun, safe and memorable team to learn, laugh and get faster.

We offer up to 35 days on the hill training, skiing/riding and racing. We train on Wednesday and Thursday nights which include in gate training and free riding with friends!

Yes, by being on your ski or snowboard team and showing up to 60% of the races, you will qualify for a Varsity letter from the Highschool you represent.

Meet Your Coaches
Kirsten Klug, Director & Ski Racing Coach
- Kirsten started Apex Alpine in 2024 after coaching for Meadows Race Team for almost 20 years (5 years she ran the HS Program).
- Kirsten loves to create the braver space where athletes can learn skills that improve the way they ski. They become more aware of how their whole body, brain and spirit work together to create turns that increase speed and fun. Kirsten found her love for ski racing when she was a freshman in HS. She went to state four years and won the league, and excelled as a college ski racer.
- Many athletes, parents and other coaches appreciate her perseverance and positivity, even coming back after major accidents.
- When not coaching ski racing, Kirsten is a mindset and leadership growth consultant and business coach. An author of The Healthy & Fun Choices Way, Creating Positive Change and Arrival Time.
Brandon Akers, Ski Racing Coach
- Brandon brings a love of skiing! He has been skiing most of his life and has in-laws who taught skiing for many, many years.
- He enjoys working with athletes to enhance their skiing in a variety of terrain and gates. If the powder has fallen and the mountain is open, we will find Brandon grabbing powder stashes and helping the athletes enjoy those awesome ski days, too.
- If the rain is falling and we are waiting for it to clear, we know Brandon will have coffee and hot chocolate ready for us in the parking lot, too!
- Brandon and Kirsten have are going on their third year of working together on the slopes to ensure a wonderful time for all the athletes.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW:
- Helmets must be FIS approved (POC, Giro, Smith)
- Poles need straps or click-on hand straps
- Slalom Ski comes to below nose
- Giant Slalom Ski comes to forehead
- Racers can just have Slalom Skis if want
- Make sure pants or bibs have side zippers if athlete has a downhill suit
- Boots should fit tight / snug, and comfortable
- Bindings should be tested each year by ski store
- Wax and sharpening of ski edges is key and we will offer ski tuning nights.
- Parents needed for carpools amd we need a team parent ava
